Twenty Under 40 Recipients Reveal London's "New Economic Trailblazers"

LONDON, ON (September 24, 2013) - A social convener extraordinaire, a husband-and-wife communications team, a business strategist who created the $100 Challenge and the innovator behind the world's largest online voice talent marketplace are among this year's 20 Under 40 recipients.

In its inaugural year, the 20 Under 40 awards program recognizes accomplished industry leaders who are under the age of 40 and also give back to their community. The awards are presented by Business London magazine and sponsored by Emerging Leaders, GenNext United Way of London & Middlesex, Harrison Pensa, Ivey Business School, Nothers Signs & Recognition, Lovers At Work and The London Free Press.

"The depth and innovation that the applicants represent demonstrates that London has a great future ahead of itself," said Gord Delamont, Business London publisher and editor and one of the judges who selected the recipients.

"These are the new economic trailblazers in London who show that there is ample opportunity to foster talent and innovation for the next generation of young entrepreneurs."

The judging committee also included Daniel McHardy, TD Canada Trust manager of sales strategy Western Ontario Region, Justin Ogglesby, associate director of digital media at Hall mc and Shannon Toshack, project officer with the Fanshawe College Faculty of Regional and Continuing Education.

More than 150 individuals were nominated, and all nominations were assessed according to a 55-point system: 20 points for business achievements; 10 points for growth and development; 10 points for industry innovation; and 15 points for community involvement.

"Having recently returned to London, I was both impressed and inspired with the strength of all of the nominees," said Daniel McHardy. "The high level of professional success and deep commitment to the London community these young leaders demonstrate, show us all what's possible here. They're leaders that Londoners can be extremely proud of and are definitely worth celebrating!"

All the 20 Under 40 recipients will be profiled in a special print and digital supplement to be distributed with the November issue of Business London. The recipients will also be feted at a cocktail reception at Museum London on Wednesday, November 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each award recipient will receive a commemorative crystal award and a scholarship of $6,500 toward attending the Ivey Management Program, courtesy of the Ivey Business School.
