Workplace experience expert and writer Jacob Morgan draws upon the analogy of a used car to differentiate between engagement and experience. Morgan argues that while you might spend a significant amount of money improving a car’s external features, if you ignore the parts under the hood, you really haven’t improved the vehicle. If we liken engagement strategies to the kind of detailing that helps you get greater enjoyment from the ride, employee experience becomes the engine that keeps your organization running day after day.
Ideally, employee engagement and employee experience work together to drive positive change in your workplace. While engagement often means introducing new strategies, employee experience frequently renovates existing procedures to make them work better for employees.
